Legendary basketball coach John Wooden had it right when he said: “The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.”
Bill Duffy didn’t play for Coach Wooden, but his graceful response to a business challenge showed the lesson was learned.
Duffy, one of the top sports agents in the US, discovered a made mistake had been made with a client’s contract.
Duffy’s response would have made Wooden proud.
“Bill busted his tail … to get [the player] a job at a time in which there are a lot of people still looking for work,”
Duffy said his decision to pay the difference between the two salaries “was the honorable thing to do to address the situation.”
Simple as that!
